Then, the specialist should investigate the couple’s infertility in detail. In this investigation, factors such as the couple’s medical history, sexual diseases, previous operations, infertility period or work environment are also investigated. First, a sperm analysis is performed on the male candidate. In this way, sperm count and morphological characteristics are determined and their fertilization abilities are investigated. Later, if deemed necessary, urological examination and other tests can be performed. Female infertility is more complicated. For this reason, structures such as tubes, uterus, hormonal factors, myoma-polyp are investigated. Since there are many more factors that can cause infertility in women, the investigation should be done in more detail.
After the infertility problems are determined, the appropriate treatment method for the couple is started. First, the mother’s ovaries are stimulated. Then, the stimulated eggs are collected when they reach the desired maturity. The collected eggs are fertilized with sperm cells taken from the father and then transferred to the mother’s uterus after 3 or 5 days.
The number of transferred embryos is determined as a maximum of 2 if the expectant mother is over 35 years old and has had her first two IVF attempts. However, if the expectant mother is under 35 years old, only one embryo transfer is allowed.
When is a pregnancy test performed?
The pregnancy test is performed 12 days after the embryo transfer. During this period, the couple does not need to come to the center.
