Uterine Resting in IVF
Uterine Resting in IVF, also known as frozen embryo transfer (FET), is one of the important methods preferred to ensure successful pregnancy in IVF treatment. It is part of the processes followed to increase the chance of pregnancy, especially in cases where egg development is not sufficient or the number of eggs is not at the desired level.
In standard IVF treatment, mature eggs and sperm are placed in the uterus on the 3rd or 5th day after fertilization. However, during this process, the embryo is frozen and subjected to a waiting period of 1.5-2 months. Implantation into the uterus is performed when this period is completed. This method aims to provide the uterus with more suitable conditions for the embryo.
It is worth underlining that one of the most important criteria for the uterine resting process is the stage of freezing and thawing embryos safely.

Why is Uterine Rest Important?
In standard IVF treatments, in cases where the eggs cannot or are unlikely to develop into a healthy embryo, egg enlargement procedures are applied. These procedures, which can be administered as injections or medication, ensure the production of good quality eggs with a high probability of fertilization. This ensures that eggs with suitable conditions can be used for fertilization, thus increasing the chance of pregnancy.
On the other hand, various studies have shown that although the procedures applied during this process improve egg quality, they may cause negative effects on the intrauterine tissue. However, it is stated that these effects are temporary.
The uterine resting process is a preferred procedure depending on these effects. The process of waiting for approximately 1.5-2 months to reduce these effects is called the uterine resting process. The aim here is to eliminate the effects of medication or injection treatments that have been applied to retrieve healthy eggs. In this way, the uterus can better hold the embryo and increase the chance of pregnancy.
