Infertility and IVF Treatment refers to the condition in which couples have natural and regular sexual intercourse for a year, but cannot have children. Infertility can occur due to many factors. While some of these factors are congenital, some may occur later. Today, 15 out of every hundred couples have infertility problems. The problem of infertility is increasing more and more nowadays. Factors such as insufficient nutrition, smoking, work life and postponement of women’s childbearing age can trigger infertility.
Assisted reproductive methods are used for the treatment of couples experiencing infertility problems. The most successful among these methods is IVF treatment. Dec. How is IVF treatment performed?

If the woman is older than 35 years, the waiting period in this case is 6 months. After waiting for six months, an infertility specialist should definitely be consulted.
Then the specialist should investigate the infertility status of the couple in detail. In this study, factors such as the couple’s medical history, sexual diseases, previous operations, duration of infertility or working environment are also investigated. Sperm analysis is performed on the male candidate first. In this way, sperm number and morphological properties are determined and fertilization abilities are investigated. Then, if deemed necessary, urological examination and other examinations can be performed. Female infertility is more complicated. For this reason, structures such as tubes, uterine condition, hormonal factors, fibroids-polyps are also being investigated. Since there are more factors that can lead to infertility in women, the research should be done in more detail.
After the infertility problems are determined, the appropriate treatment method is started for the couple. First, the ovaries of the expectant mother are stimulated. Then, the stimulated eggs are collected when they reach the desired maturity. The collected eggs are fertilized with sperm cells taken from the expectant father and then transferred to the expectant mother’s uterus after 3 or 5 days.
The number of transferred embryos is determined as a maximum of 2 if the expectant mother is older than 35 years and the first two IVF attempts. However, if the expectant mother’s age is less than 35, only one embryo transfer is allowed in this case.

When is the pregnancy test performed?
The pregnancy test is performed 12 days after the embryo transfer. During this time, the couple does not need to come to the center.
