What is IVF Treatment?

In vitro fertilisation was first conceived in the 1930s and was put into practice in 1978 with the first live birth. Initially, it was designed as a solution only for women with blocked tubes. However, today, it has turned into a treatment method that offers an effective solution to many reproductive problems, including infertility in men, with a success rate of up to 80%. This treatment, which involves the fertilisation of eggs taken from the expectant mother with sperm from the father and the transfer of the resulting embryos to the woman's uterus, has become increasingly widespread with technological and scientific advances.

IVF Journey in Five Stages

IVF Treatment Process

Under the guidance of Op. Dr. Alper Şişmanoğlu, discover each stage of IVF treatment in detail; we offer a meticulous and individualised approach from the evaluation process to embryo transfer.

01
Patient Assessment and Preliminary Preparation
In this first stage, the medical history and general health status of the couple are analysed. Detailed medical examinations and necessary tests (blood tests, ultrasound) are performed and this information is evaluated for treatment planning.
02
Stimulation Therapy (Ovulation Induction)
The woman's ovaries are stimulated to produce more than one egg. With hormone therapy, the development of the ovaries is regularly monitored by ultrasound and blood tests.
03
Egg Collection (Ovum Pick-Up, OPU)
Mature eggs are collected vaginally from the ovaries using a fine needle under ultrasound guidance. This procedure is performed with the patient's comfort in mind.
04
Fertilisation and Embryo Development
The collected eggs are fertilised with male sperm in the laboratory. The development of the embryos is carefully monitored for several days and their healthy development is ensured.
05
Embryo Transfer
The healthiest embryo or embryos are implanted in the uterus. The procedure is usually painless and does not require any special anaesthesia. After the transfer, you wait for a pregnancy test.
